Poornima Balasubramanyam

Ms. Balasubramanyam, who joined Park, Vaughan, Fleming & Dowler LLP in May 2006, specializes in prosecuting patent applications on computer hardware and software technologies. Her extensive technical experience enables her to help clients protect complex intellectual property.

Technology expertise
Ms. Balasubramanyam has prosecuted patent applications related to a variety of hardware and software technologies, including IC technologies, computer architectures, networking, computer security, databases and client-server applications. Ms. Balasubramanyam has prosecuted patents for Apple Inc., Google Inc., Oracle Corp., Sun Microsystems Inc., Synopsys Inc. and the University of California.

Publications and patents
Ms. Balasubramanyam is the author of several technical research papers in the area of computer vision, including visual motion, binocular motion and biological motion; and in the area of network security, including securing network routing, wireless, mobile ad hoc networks, and sensor networks.

Teaching and research experience
Prior to joining Park, Vaughan, Fleming & Dowler LLP, Ms. Balasubramanyam worked as a research scientist specializing in network security at the UC Davis, where she was the principal investigator leading a significant sensor network security project funded by the National Science Foundation. In addition, Ms. Balasubramanyam was the co-investigator in a MANET security project in which she directed research along with co-investigators from Army Research Laboratory, McAfee and Telcordia Technologies.
